Total Solar Eclipse 20 March 2015

Local Circumstances Calculator>

A quick glance at the location for this eclipse reveals that it is a difficult one to reach by land with only two options - The Faroe Islands and Svalbard. Svalbard is a very remote island at the northern most reaches of Europe. Here is a picture of Svalbard taken from the air in August 2008. March will still have a lot of snow and access to the island may be limited. The Faroe Islands offer a better alternative with a milder Gulf Stream fueled climate that does not get much snow but can change quickly from clear to cloudy and back again.

The best solution to view this solar eclipse will be by air.
